June 10
Brooke and I arrived at the Orlando airport a
little early. While waiting for our flight, we did a little
shopping at the Disney Store in the airport. We found a good deal
on a couple of Disney shirts. You can't have too many Disney
shirts.
It is now 5:33 in the morning "Harryfest"
time. We just finished a fabulous breakfast of cardboard bagels,
plastic eggs, and fresh from concentrate Florida orange juice. We
are now flying at "oh my goodness" feet above the Gulf
of Mexico - about 3 1/2 hours away from California.
This is the view of the Gulf of Mexico out of our
window. It is blue.
The rest of the flight from Orlando to LAX was very
exciting.
Eventually we reached LA! The weather is very
overcast (shades of my first trip to LA?).
We didn't have any problem getting to the Red Lion
in Glendale. We're on the 15th floor with a glorious view of a
parking garage's roof. We spent some time exploring the hotel.
The pool is nice, but it is too cool here to swim. (The cool
temperature is great after the record highs we have had in
Orlando!). On the 19th floor is a lounge with a spectacular view.
I'm still surprised everytime I see mountains. Having grown up in
Florida. I haven't seen them very often. We do have Splash
Mountain, Space Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain in Orlando,
but they are not quite the same.
