With the help of a 39-piece orchestra, Harry performs standards such as "As Time Goes By" and "Makin' Whoopee!." The album peaked at #46 on the charts.

The LP was released with a gatefold cover. On the front cover, Harry pays homage to Oliver Hardy. Harry also wears two buttons. Pictured in one of the buttons is Zak Nilsson. In the other button is Frank Wills, the security guard who uncovered the Watergate break-in. The album is dedicated to Mr. Wills.

The buttons were added when the photograph was retouched. In the original photograph, Harry is wearing buttons with pictures of John Lennon and Paul McCartney.

When the album cover is opened, a number of photographs are displayed. Two of the photos are enclosed by a heart - one of Harry and one of a young woman named Kathy Simmonds. Kathy was Harry's girlfriend at the time the album was recorded.

"About two years ago [circa 1971], Harry and I were talking about songs, swapping titles, and testing memories. You know that game? Who wrote 'Miss Otis' and what year did Al Jolson die, and what else besides 'As Time Goes By' did Herman Hupfeld ... write? We found a lot of marvelous songs with fine words. And what melodies! 'You Made Me Love You (I Didn't Want To Do It),' 'I Wonder Who's Kissing Her Now.' Brilliant stuff, constructed with style and flair. ... One day Harry suggested 'Why don't we do an album of the old songs?' and it was the best idea I'd heard since God only knows when. 'You produce and I'll sing,' he said. And two years later - it's November 1972 - he says it again, and this time it's on." -- Derek Taylor
